10 Photos That Will Restore Your Faith in New Carlisle

This Custom Trump for President Build the Wall Yard Sign

We try not to get too political here at Main & Lake. That being said, regardless what side of the aisle your political affiliations rest, you have to admire anyone who gets involved in the democratic process of this great nation. In particular, what makes me proud to see this display is I can see no less than 10 – count them, 10! – American flags in this photo. Someone who is anti-American would have zero. Someone who is patriotic only on holidays like the Fourth of July or when there is a terrorist attack like 9/11 might have one. But someone who truly loves, respects, and will fight for this country? That’s the kind of person with 10 American flags waving proudly on their property. And that’s the kind of person I want as my neighbor. That’s the kind of person you will find in New Carlisle.

This Graffiti at a Local Park (Foul Language Warning)

Graffiti isn’t good or nice. It’s ugly and drags down the beauty of our great town. This graffiti in particular has some nasty language, and that is bad. Very bad.

But you know what’s good? That the vandal had the decency to sign their name below their work. That’s the kind of decent folks you will find in New Carlisle. When we make a mistake, we own up to it. We are straight shooters, and we don’t beat around the bush. If we think an entire town should go f-word themselves, by god we put our name behind that statement. We don’t run and hide like cowards. I don’t agree with the method, but I respect people who tell it like it is.

This Deaf Child Area Sign That’s Been There for Decades

New Carlisle is a place where people look out for one another. This “Deaf Child Area” sign (one in a series of signs found on nearby streets) has been up for at least 30 years. There are three possible explanations for this, and all of them make me proud as a peacock to live in New Carlisle:

  1. The deaf child that lived in this area had children of his or her own that also happened to be deaf, and New Carlisle is continuing to look out for their safety with these signs.
  2. The deaf child for whom this sign was made is grown up now, but the city keeps the sign up since it has been so successful in making motorists drive carefully.
  3. The deaf child for whom this sign was made is actually a vampire or other being who doesn’t age and is suspended in a state of perpetual childhood, in which case they probably have bigger concerns than distracted drivers, but it’s still nice the city keeps the sign there. It’s also less work to leave it there than to remove it, and that saves city resources.

This Label on the Sewer Warning Against Dumping

New Carlisle doesn’t get nearly enough credit for its “green” initiatives. The city is always forward-thinking and progressive and always goes the extra mile to protect our natural habitat. I appreciate those efforts, as New Carlisle has some beautiful land to see.

There’s also no way that an environmental terrorist would ever see these labels and immediately know an obvious and simple way to pollute the river and, therefore, the city’s water stream, causing future generations to be born with life-threatening illnesses and mutations thus ending all life in New Carlisle. There’s zero chance of that. Could never happen, no sir.

This Sign That Said “ROAD ClOSED TO TRAFFIC THRU”

If you haven’t had your faith in New Carlisle restored by now, you might be beyond hope. But let us try one more. This sign is blocking the road for a block party that featured a bounce house and kids playing. That’s a perfect example of the type of community one can enjoy when living in New Carlisle. Neighbors are friends, and friends are neighbors. Just good people looking out for their own and trying to get by every day. Is New Carlisle perfect? No. But nowhere is perfect. But you better believe it’s perfect for me. And that’s all that counts.
