A photo was recently shared to the popular local Facebook group “You Know You’re From New Carlisle If…” that depicted a homemade sign advertising “heroin for sale” with an address listed. The picture sparked a lively discussion about the affect drug abuse and the drug trade is having on New Carlisle, as well as some steps to improve the situation in the future.
Main and Lake has discovered more homemade signs that have been placed in the Smith Park area after the “heroin for sale” sign was discovered.

Gas for sale
For years, when New Carlisle residents need gas they have multiple options right at the intersection of Main St. and Lake Ave. When the west side Speedway had to stop selling gas due to a fuel leak, that left the east side Speedway as the only option for miles. Recently that Speedway was out of gas as well, leading to a fuel crisis the likes New Carlisle had never experienced.

Pool party to honor former NC cops July 16
The city made the tough decision to keep the public pool open rather than maintain deputies from Clark County to uphold the law in town. As a payback, a pool party has been planned, according to a sign at Smith Park. The event is July 16 and I’m sure it will be a real hoot!

This sign sums up what New Carlisle is all about: a tight-knit little town full of kind folks who look out for their neighbors like they are their family.
