Kitty Korner: “JoJo”

Kitty Korner is a new feature where we profile our feline friends from New Carlisle. 

The Miami-Valley Fanciful Feline Award-nominee “JoJo” is best known for her elegant struts in front of the on-coming Edgebrook Dr. traffic, her frequent visits to the Security National Bank drive-thru window where she is bestowed with various treats, and possibly one or two late night ruckus romps through multiple Cambridge Court trash cans during the summer of 2009 when she was still a young kitty.

A Friendship Forged Through Love of Country

Daryl Craig Gant, of Lake Ave., fancies himself a patriot. He flies an American flag in his front yard atop a flag for the United States Marine Corp; but one thing that doesn’t fly in Daryl’s world is unpatriotic Americans. While he never served in the military because of his failings on mental aptitude tests, supporting the troops and the United States is Daryl’s main objective in life. “I see more and more stories these days about people against our wars, against our guns, just against all sorts of anything you can think of.” Daryl said. “Freedom is all we have left and I’m going to fight those that protest in a way I don’t like much.”

Great Moments in New Carlisle History: SUV Meets House

This is the first installment of a new feature at M&L called Great Moments in New Carlisle History. The series will focus on some of the amazing, noteworthy, infamous, and heartwarming moments that have occurred in our town. 

5 years ago, as large swaths of the country – including New Carlisle – were mired in a devastating recession, a New Carlisle man named Steve Doak decided to fight back against the banks who were foreclosing on homes.
