This is the first installment of a new feature at M&L called Great Moments in New Carlisle History. The series will focus on some of the amazing, noteworthy, infamous, and heartwarming moments that have occurred in our town.
5 years ago, as large swaths of the country – including New Carlisle – were mired in a devastating recession, a New Carlisle man named Steve Doak decided to fight back against the banks who were foreclosing on homes.

The New Carlisle Family Pool has long been a fixture in the community and if some had their way it would have been filled with dirt so the city can employ nearly a half dozen police officers. Luckily for the city’s residents, council thought better of living in a police state and voted to eliminate nearly the entire police force so the city’s general fund could be focused towards pool related issues.
New Carlisle, famous for its yearly Festival of Flight and being the birth place of famous squint comedian French Stewart, has always been a quiet town. Some locals say it’s the quiet that kept the devil at bay, so they take noise complaints very seriously. That’s why the street bike gang that have laid their roots on Brookfield have created quite the kerfuffle.
